You Are Loved Today

With Valentine’s Day a few hours away, love is on the minds of many. Some are considering the love they have. They’re planning a surprise for their sweetheart. There’s chocolate and flowers involved and perhaps a candle-lit dinner.

Others are thinking of the love they lost. The rocker is empty, the clothes are still in the closet, and the house is painfully quiet. Today is filled with memories. Some are good, and some are sorrowful.

Still more are pondering the love they desire that just hasn’t happened yet. No cards come. Flowers may be bought, but usually for oneself. They watch as everyone else seems to get the happily ever they prayed for as if God delivered His blessing to the wrong address.

Yes, many are pondering love today in many different ways. So if today’s a little harder than you expected, let me be the first to say you are loved.

“You are loved when you don’t feel lovely. You are loved by God even when you are loved by no one else. Others may abandon you, divorce you, and ignore you. God will love you.” ~ How Happiness Happens by Max Lucado, pg.154

Nothing can change that, and no one can take it away. God’s love cannot be lost, and it is never misplaced. He chose you not for the way you look, the clothes you wear, or the status you hold. He chose you because He made you and loves you relentlessly today and every day. Hold on to that truth this Valentine’s Day.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV

The day of love has come
When hearts are won
Flowers are given
Cards and chocolate too

Signs are hung in pink and red
With sweet nothings in swirled script
Hugs and kisses are exchanged
And romance fills many dreams

It’s a special day to say
You are loved

The day of memories has come
Sweethearts separated too soon
Marriages broken beyond repair
Lonely hearts stare at empty chairs

Old gifts are touched reverently
Clothes still hold familiar scents
Pictures framed remind what was
Some memories are good, some sad

It’s a sorrowful day
To remember lost loves

The day of reminders has come
Single souls wait for chocolate sales
So they can drown their woes
Of unmet happily ever afters

Another friend just got a ring
Hard to even get excited
When it hurts so much inside
Still they pray for their valentine

It’s a day to trust
That God remembers us

Whether happy, sad, or confused
God’s love is here for you
No single day of romance and bliss
Can compare to a love like His

Every soul whether loved, lonely, or lost
Is chosen by God and bought at a cost
No one is missed and no promise is broken
God is true to His word once spoken

It is a day to celebrate
God’s love never fails

So have faith single souls
Love is patient, love perseveres
Trust God to complete His work
His love is greater than any other

Take hope lonely hearts
Love protects and does not dishonor
God will never leave you alone
His love spans all distances

Give love sweethearts
For love is kind and never fails
Pass it on in every way you can
Let God’s love flow through you

Yes it is a special day
To remember, trust, and celebrate
That no matter the season
You are loved today
