Hi friends! Today’s post is a little different because I have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. This blogging award is really special to me! It was the first one I was ever nominated for, and the only one I have been nominated for three times by three different people. This time, I was nominated by Emily Bianchini. Thank you, Emily! Your support means so much to me!

Like all blogging awards, there are a few rules.

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer all the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your blog post.

So without further ado, let’s get started!

2021 Sunshine Blogger Award

#1 Do you like questions?

I do actually, which makes this a fun blogging award. I use questions a lot when creating characters, brainstorming project ideas, or developing plots. As an introvert, I enjoy exchanging questions in conversations as well. Questions allow me to get to know people on a deeper level and keep the topics rolling so there are never awkward pauses.

#2 What are some of your favorite words?

This is amazingly the third time I’ve been asked that question in the last two days! I guess I need to think about it a little more. One word that comes to mind is eucharisteo, which means grace, thanksgiving, and joy. Ann Voskamp talked about this word in her book, One Thousand Gifts. Another word that Andrew Peterson introduced me to at a writing conference this weekend is Sehnsucht. It is a German word that means a terrible, deep longing for a place you’ve never been or for something you don’t fully understand. I have experienced this feeling many times over the years, and it is nice to finally put a name to it.

#3 What do you know about your family history?

I learn a little more about my family history every week actually! My dad is incredibly interested in genealogy and history. He always has new stories to tell. Some of my favorites are the stories about my grandpa’s childhood.

#4 Are you a broad thinker or a deep thinker?

I am a deep thinker. I always need time to process after learning something and don’t like to be rushed into making quick decisions.

#5 What song do you have stuck in your head?

Currently, I have Be Kind To Yourself by Andrew Peterson stuck in my head. I saw him perform it live in concert on Saturday night. It was amazing!

#6 How do you unwind after a long day?

I have several ways to unwind after a long day. Usually, I talk to my family about different things that happened. I also enjoy watching TV shows, reading, listening to music, and texting friends. Although lately, I have begun to experiment with watercolors, brush pens, and sketching as a means to calm down. That has proved to be very relaxing and enjoyable.

#7 How would you describe your sense of humor?

I love puns. Sometimes my brother and I will have contests to see who can make the most in a row. We also make obscure movie references to each other almost like a secret language. Funny stories are another type of humor I enjoy. But most of all, I just love to laugh.

#8 What are the most random things you have memorized?

In high school, I used to memorize birthdays. At one point, I knew everyone’s birthday in my youth group, plus a number of their siblings’ birthdays. I also memorized how to spell Nebuchadnezzar when I was thirteen and have never forgotten.

#9 What makes you feel awe?

I love nature and the breathtaking wonder that comes with it. There are so many beautiful ways that creation reveals the heart of the Creator. The other night I was sitting on the deck at dusk, watching the clouds roll across the purple-hued sky. Just as I was about to go in, a light flickered in front of me. A firefly had flown so close that I could have touched him. Every few seconds, his light would glow. As I watched him float away, I thought if God put such incredible care in creating that tiny bug, how much more must He care for me? It was a beautiful, awe-inspiring moment.

#10 What is the last YouTube video you watched?

The last YouTube video I watched was Lauren Daigle’s lyric version of Rescue. It’s so beautiful and powerful!

#11 If you could invent a new candy, what would it be?

This isn’t exactly a new candy, but I wish there was a naturally sweetened version of Jelly Beans. They were my favorite candy growing up. I loved how unique each flavor was and how many you could get at once.

Anyways, those are my answers to the questions! At this point, you normally would nominate other bloggers. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the time to keep up with any blogs lately, and I am hesitant to recommend blogs I haven’t fully reviewed. So, if you have a blog and would like to participate in this tag, please feel free to join in! The whole point of these challenges is to discover new blogs and recognize the ones we love. If you do choose to participate, please leave a comment letting me know! I would love to read your post and check out your blog.

My questions for you are:

  1. What is your favorite thing to write about?
  2. What book of the Bible have you been reading lately?
  3. Have you ever attended a concert?
  4. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
  5. What is your favorite thing to do in the summer?
  6. Do you prefer writing on a computer, by hand, or some other method?
  7. How would you describe morning sunshine if you were writing a scene in a novel?
  8. Do you have a favorite author or genre to read?
  9. Have you ever met anyone famous?
  10. What do you consider your calling in life?
  11. What is your favorite way to de-stress?

I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about me through this Blogging Award!

All is Grace, Esther Noe
